  • Koenigsegg uses a "dihedral synchro-helix" system for their vehicles (known in the custom-car world as "raptor" doors) which seems to combine the advantages of all the designs though with considerably more mechanical complexity.
  • BMW Z1 (the Z1 used unhinged doors that lowered into the chassis)
  • Isetta (Single front-mounted door was hinged on one side)
  • Zündapp Janus - (Front and rear mounted side-hinged doors)
  • Subaru SVX (Conventional-hinged door with a split window design, used for visual effect)
  • Messerschmitt KR175 / KR200 (Aircraft-style canopy)
  • Loremo (Bottom-hinged front hatch, more conventional (but large) top-hinged rear hatch)
  • Saab Aero-X concept - (Canopy lifts upwards and forwards, sides move outward and forwards)
  • Maserati Birdcage 75th - (Front 2/3 of the top of the car lifts up and moves forwards)
